Strapping (also referred to as banding), is strong, durable and a reliable product for many scenarios. There are various types and sizes of strapping, each suited to certain tasks so please choose carefully.
- Polypropylene and Polyester strapping is moderately light, efficient and easy to work with. Generally PP or PET banding is used for the general packing of goods, helping to keep items together (packages and pallets) for added stability/security.
- Steel strapping is heavy and more commonly used to secure heavy cargo loads during transit. It's weight and rigidity do not allow for much movement, so it should be used tactfully.
- Woven Cord and Cord Polyester strapping is used with plastic buckles instead of metal seals and is an alternative approach to tying down heavier loads, irregularly shaped cargo or for more precious materials (steel strapping can cut or chew into products). Polyester versions offer excellent abrasion resistance, high tensile strength and resistance to both UV rays and moisture.
It is important to be aware that strapping types must be used in conjunction with the corresponding tools (automated strapping machines or manual sealers, cutters and tensioners) per strapping type, along with the correct accessories (lap-over, serrated or semi-open seals, or plastic buckles) to help maintain safe working practices and performance output.
